Busy Moms Bible Review

I received a Busy Moms Bible from Zondervan a little over a week ago and now get to share about it! For more info: busymomsbible.com.

Aesthetically, it is perfect! It has a beautiful two-toned pink leather ( or leather like?) cover. Also, it is a near perfect size. Not too small, but small enough to make it easy to carry to church, bible studies, and so on.

So far, I've really appreciated the topic choices. It seems to cover either old topics in a new way or topics that most studies aren't even covering. I also like the easy reference lists of scriptures at the back related to the topics in the devotionals.

The devotionals are an ok length, but I would appreciate a little bit more "meat" to them. I understand that the appeal is for "busy moms", but I think they took it a little too far. If we can't spare even 5 minutes a day for God, we need to rearrange our priorities. I also don't understand the placement of the devotionals throughout the bible - it's rather random and I wish that they were placed next to the scripture that they are drawing from.

All in all, it is a nice bible that I look forward to using and delving into the devotionals.

Prayer Requests

I cannot say why this is such a tough time for people. Maybe its the economy, maybe its potitics, but I just think we all have such a stressful time trying to keep up with the pace of the world. Lately, we have been geetiing numerous prayer requests wherever we go. So in the spirit of prayer, and here at Shine, we deeply believe in the power of prayer, on Wednesday, February 18th, we converted the Shine line (1-800-987- WONU) into an all prayer request line.

The response was overwhelming! Over 120 prayer requests were made and we immediatly sent our prayer team to work!

Thank you so much and you are all always in our prayers!

To make a prayer request at anytime, please email us at shine@olivet.edu.

#D Superbowl Commercials

For the first time in Super Bowl history, viewers can watch a lineup of advertisements in three dimensional visuals. According to NBC's website, the network will air its first ever all-3D commercial break running in next Sunday's Super Bowl 43. The annual football extravaganza is known for airing particularly quirky commercials during the breaks and ad slots are reported to cost around three-million-dollars for 30 seconds during this year's Arizona Cardinals-Pittsburgh Steelers matchup. Over 125-million pairs of 3D glasses have been produced by PepsiCo through the SoBe Lifewater brand. They are available for free pick up at 25-thousand SoBe Lifewater retail displays or can be claimed by calling 1-800-646-2904.

The NBC 3D fad doesn't end with the Super Bowl. The following night, on Monday February 2nd, a 3D episode of "Chuck" will air. The episode, titled "Chuck vs. the Third Dimension," will feature guest appearances from NBC Sports analysts as well as Super Bowl champ Jerome Bettis. The special airs on NBC at 8 p.m. Eastern.

Boredom

Today, we talked about being bored. We hope the topic, however, isn't boring! Americans are now facing problem-solving deficit disorder. We learn to solve problems when we're bored. The Boston Globe has more on that story.
